Joe Benesh is the President + CEO of the Ingenuity Company, a strategic planning, organizational development, and design thinking firm based in Des Moines, Iowa. He is a graduate of the architecture program at Iowa State (1999). Joe has a background in strategic planning that spans more than fourteen years. His unique ability to listen, process, and framework thoughts and ideas into focused strategies and tactical implementation plans has led to purposeful and sustainable growth in the organizations he works with. In addition to the groups he has worked with in the central Iowa region, Joe has also built successful organizations in Chicago and Miami. In addition to his practice, he teaches Strategic Planning in the MBA program at the University of Iowa.
Joe is a Past-President of the Downtown Des Moines Chamber of Commerce, which increased its membership by 1/3 and doubled its operating budget during his term and was named a National Chamber of the Year in 2018. He also serves on the boards of several non-profits and is part of a think-tank that is dedicated to the success of the central Iowa region. Joe is also the founding member and organizer of an NGO that seeks to bring the leadership of emerging professional groups together to share resources, best practices, and retain the exceptional talent that exists in central Iowa, as well as a group dedicated to addressing the GAP in learning and development, community connectivity, and mentoring for the generation of professionals between YP and the C-Suite. Joe has also been a regular blogger for the Des Moines Business Record, where he wrote a monthly blog on organizational strategy, which he is currently editing into a book on strategic planning.
